The prerequisite to his discovering the Gold was locating old Gold Rush claim sites. Digging up historical archives has lead Diamondback Dave directly to original claim sites and early Gold Rush encampments.

Meeting some interesting new friends and being offered permission to work a Gold Placer Claim hooked him from his hat to his heels. Upon his first serious prospecting and mining trip, Diamondback Dave unearthed an ounce and one half of gold nuggets and dust.... Eureka!
